Do you have certain times of the year that are particularly busy when it comes to gift giving? March for our family is always a super busy month. There is my birthday, my husbands birthday, our anniversary, my nieces birthday, her anniversary and then in early April it is our eldest sons birthday.
This year has made it a little harder to shop. We are being told to stay home, and many businesses and shops are closing until this passes. Being one of those people who should not be out as getting COVID-19 may not end well for me, my family is being pretty strict about not wanting me out. So, I've had to become very creative when gift shopping. Online shopping is great! Don't get me wrong, I am very well versed in online shopping, you could say it has long been a favourite hobby! Wanting to find new and unique gifts though has become a challenge for me and I thought there may be many of you in the same situation. So, I've compiled some ideas that might make your gift shopping easier. Think birthdays, anniversaries, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day (remember these happen at different times around the world and we have Mother's Day coming up in May in Australia), celebrations, or just to let someone know you care. Remember shipping and postage may be delayed at the moment so planning ahead is key!
Seed & Sprout has quickly become one of my favourite online shops. If you are looking for amazing eco friendly gifts for all ages, then you can't go past Seed & Sprout. Based in Byron Bay on the NSW (Australia) North Coast, you will find personal care, kitchen, laundry, kids items and much more. If you are looking for products to reduce your environmental impact, but still want luxury, then this online shop is for you. Great products that are great for the environment too. My personal favourites so far? The Metal Drinking Straws, Organic Farmers Market Set, the Dish Bar (smells amazing!), the Body Bar and the Shampoo Bar. I have just placed an order for their new hair Conditioning Bar and the Shave Bar for Glenn, and I still have a number of items on my wishlist. I'm sure you will too!
This is amazing, for the whisky lover in your family! A subscription based gift, where you pay a monthly fee and have whisky samples delivered to your door (free shipping in Australia). As a member you also get special prices on products. You can skip or stop subscription at any time so you don't get locked in to a time contract. It is the perfect gift for someone who has everything and is hard to buy for. I purchased this for my husbands birthday and when it arrived he was super impressed. The packaging was beautiful, very impressive. Can't wait for Glenn to open his bottles and have a sample!
Perfect for the gin lover in your life, a Gin Society subscription is a passport to the incredible world of craft gins. A gift subscription includes a unique craft gin delivered every 2 months, along with a Gin journal and an invitation to exclusive member events. Our first delivery arrived today (another gift for my husband), and I have to say, the packaging and beautiful bottles were a pleasant surprise. I'm hoping he will share some of his new supplies with me tonight!
If you would like to support local businesses and winemakers, and enjoy a drop or two of wine, then this might be a gift idea for you. For $40 a month you can become a Naked Angel (catchy name hey!). Naked Angels support independent winemakers by investing $40 a month into their Naked Wines account, to spend whenever they want - in return for discounts, freebies, exclusive wines and more. We became Naked Angels after we received a voucher, giving us $100 worth of free wine. We continued being a Naked Angel, as the price and quality of the wines far exceeded our (high) expectations. Great wines, supporting local winemakers, what more could you want when finding a gift for the wine lover in your life.
If you have a coffee lover in your life, then Coffee and Tales is certainly the site for you to shop. Last year I gifted a subscription to both my eldest son and my husband, along with some beautiful coffee making accessories including beautiful glass coffee servers and dripper sets. Each month they receive a box of coffee beans, carefully selected by Coffee and Tales from Coffee Roasters all over the world. The coffee comes in two sealed pouches in a beautiful box complete with an information card about the coffee origins and the roasters who carefully produced the beans. It is a unique way to try coffee flavours that aren't accessible close to home. The guys have loved each box and are keen to explore the new coffee beans as soon as they arrive! Based in Hong Kong, we have found their service and the quality of the products to be of the highest standard.
If you know someone who loves baking, then this is a great gift idea. Each month a box of baking related goodies (think tools, ingredients, cutters, stencils, sprinkles, edible glitters and much more) are delivered to your door, beautifully packaged. Think all things cake and baking related and you have a great gift for the baking lover in your family. It might also be a great gift for a young baker in your life, and could be a great gift you could share together. Sometimes they close their subscriptions, but keep checking back for when they reopen as the subscription is well worth it!

Bowerbird ceramics is based in Singapore, but many of their items can be found in beautiful home ware shops in Australia also. If you follow them on Instagram you will find out where. Lisa, the owner of Bowerbird Ceramics, works closely on all of the designs. Together with her team they create samples, look at drawings and really do build each piece from scratch. Her team in Vietnam, where the pieces, a mix between modern, vintage and aged pieces are created, are perfectionists. Every piece is a hand made work of art. I have a few pieces myself, but I also use to buy pieces while I lived in Singapore as gifts, and even though I am back in Australia, I can still order online and have items delivered to friends still in Singapore. The craftsmanship and their great customer service means I never have to worry about the gift arriving on time and in perfect condition.

Buy From The Bush was created on 16th October, 2019 and began as an Instagram account showcasing the beautiful things available to buy from rural communities facing drought. The account called on city friends to look to the bush for their Christmas shopping and by so doing, invest in keeping rural communities alive through the drought. Seven weeks later it had over 130,000 followers and had increased rural postage figures by 40%. It seemed the city heard the call for help and as Slim Dusty (a famous iconic Australian Country Singer) would say provided a ‘flood of human kindness’ directed at small bush businesses. There are some many creative and talented craftsmen and producers in the bush, and you are certainly going to find some amazing gift ideas. If you want to help our rural communities, while finding unique gifts, then this certainly is the site to look. With gifts available for all ages and interests, you are sure to find a perfect gift here, and at the same time know you are giving back to the community. Many of the items can also be shipped worldwide on request.

It is more than a cooking class; the knowledge you come away with, great recipes and a whole cooking and eating experience make it a perfect gift for the food and cooking lover in your life. Kirsten Tibballs (the Chocolate Queen) online baking and chocolate classes are nothing but amazing. Kirsten shares her recipes and tips in full video classes, allowing you access to all classes, old and new, while your membership is current. If you have a home or professional cook in your family that loves trying new recipes, then this is the perfect gift for them. Online class members also have access to the online class Facebook group, where you can ask Kirsten questions directly. That in itself is a great asset. Known for their unique and elegant style, Zoë’s cakes frequently feature in international sugarcraft and bridal titles. Her main inspiration comes from fashion and beautiful fabrics with different textures and finishes. In 2011 she designed a range of wedding and celebration cakes for Fortnum and Mason, which also commissioned her to make a cake for Her Majesty the Queen to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee. You can join Zoe in workshops at her studio on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, or join one of her online classes. I can recommend these classes and I'm sure a gifted class would go down very well with the baker and cake decorator in your family.
Temple and Webster is a favourite of Anne-Marie's for home things. She likes the fact it is an Aussie site and has some really good items. They also have outdoor, baby and kids and a gift shop. Well worth a look.
Another of Anne-marie's favourites, this one for all things cameras and photography (including drones!). Take a look at their vast range, perfect for the photographer in your life.
